SEGMENT 1 – Show Open: New addition to the McKernan clan this morning, Tim likes being an uncle, teaching kids poker at the young age of 5, Doug has nice story about the birth of his third child in which he almost slept through the whole thing after being woken twice plus didn’t want to wake the neighbor, The Cat’s experience with birth, the pain of giving birth to a child, Doug blames his wife for the timing of the birth, those hospitals don’t want family there, kids just come out after the first according to Doug, captain’s log covering all the important topics, Vincent Bonsignore of the LA Daily News was on Prime Time with Joe Roderick reporting from the NFL Annual Meetings, sidetrack to Tom Hagen from “The Godfather” series, thoughts from Patriots owner Robert Kraft who is also part of the relocation committee, Bonsignore believes it’s not too late for Stan Kroenke to return to STL, interesting how comments are made in a roundabout way regarding to San Diego as well as STL, “love them up”…, passive aggressive shot at how the area has supported the team, not sure another fan base would have put up with the crap considering all things that have happened on and off the field, handjob fest in other leagues, nothing but growing chasm between franchise and their fan base…, belief there would be enough financial support from corporations, Doug sees the luxury area largely empty in recent seasons, obvious reasons why they’re one of the least valuable teams in the league, support the sponsors, Doug saw Monday Night RAW on his bank of TVs at the 4 Fox last evening, Doug sucks up most of the salary at the 4 Fox, paying those PSLs, amount per level at stadium, shot out to Alpena’s show notes, Doug second-guessing stadium construction, area code from the Greater Chicagoland area, girls from here moving up there…, bullet train, rubbing some nickels together, more financial discussion…, Doug wants the Blues to win the Presidents’ Trophy, mounting a ‘Sunday charge’, Jeff Ponder of InsideSTL.com joins the show, the #scoop on Kevin Shattenkirk returning soon, expect to see the All-Star defenseman before the playoffs, could see the Blues sticking with more veterans once Shattenkirk returns to the roster creating back line surplus, liking the presence of Robert Bortuzzo since acquiring the physical defenseman, “rear guard pinch in” contest during practice, Doug too busy even though franchise in his hands…, Jake Allen getting the start again, figure to see Brian Elliott most of the time once the team gets home, something has to give tonight (vs Penguins)…, not one easy draw for Blues heading into playoffs, do not like early matchup with Jets, almost would prefer to see Blues face Blackhawks or Kings early, always and forever…, Plow Boy still going to see Shania Twain, Plow Boy does not seem too excited about going to the concert, easy tell…, price for Shania’s farewell tour, Plow Boy really sideways over this “farewell” tour, Doug does not really have boots, suspensions begin…, talking to Doug while he does paperwork, Blues players that will go to the hard areas tonight, Doug would not go to the hard areas, would cherry pick like Tim, cannot show fear or pain, Shawn calls, coughs up hairball during his hot take & support those sponsors.
SEGMENT 2 – Taste of Shania…, good pitching from Lance Lynn before the rain, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch joins the show, Lynn looking quite sharp, The Cat missed the quotes from Lynn…, bit of sarcasm from the Cardinals’ hurler, getting the velocity up there, still a bit off on the placement of the fastball, hard to put descriptive analysis on Lynn, basically need Lynn to be what Jeff Suppan provided about a decade ago, Lynn definitely one of the more under-appreciate pitchers in the league, Homer Bailey of the Reds got Lynn’s contract, the Reds want Bailey to be Lynn…, level of under-appreciation locally too, cannot even get a Lynn jersey around these parts last season, calendar is the biggest sign in the decision of the fifth starting pitcher, schedule allows Jaime Garcia to be the guy while Carlos Martinez and Marco Gonzalez piggyback, wondering if decision will impact Martinez in negative way (if they choose Garcia), frustration with decision last season that does not appear to have carried over to this season, different element this season being told all off-season that he would have shot, would not count on Martinez being part of later innings if put in the bullpen, Doug had Pat Neshek pegged as an All-Star at this point a year ago, could easily see Martinez beginning the season in Memphis, cannot talk about roster until September…, re-visiting the comments from Robert Kraft, friend of the locals, Ryan Kelley calls, nice segue to the WWE Recap, no idea why Bill Simmons hosting would be a big deal, couple clips from Monday Night RAW, first time ever that Sting kicked off the presentation, comments from Simmons about ‘the rabbit’, Doug confused, Larry Nickel tries to elaborate, debate with Larry vs Doug about authenticity, Rey Mysterio (or freak of nature) killed another wrestler in Mexico over the weekend, Doug has more details on the tragic death, Doug takes Larry’s side for once, top five countries, drum roll behind the glass, America #1 again, Larry considers himself a legend, Doug considers himself a sports geek, Alpena talking smack on Doug via Twitter with a clever meme & Doug might block Alpena.
SEGMENT 3 – Fantasy baseball draft, Plow Boy ready to partake, Doug did not like the usage of Senior Circuit or Junior Circuit, don’t say “turning our attention” & solving Doug’s window issues.
SEGMENT 4 – The former Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson relationship…, Albert Breer of the NFL Network joins the show, the amount of scenarios he laid out the other night including the Raiders going to STL, dilemma is the best LA proposal comes from the team owner that’s least qualified to relocate, STL really stuck in spot working hard to keep the Rams where they are, losing a team doesn’t mean the NFL will be gone forever from any city as we’ve seen in the past, NFL would help city like STL get a team, unlike anything else we’ve seen from an owner positioning themselves for Los Angeles, the league will be doing market assessments soon, been told that STL has been the most aggressive between the three cities fight for their teams, keeping Stan from going rogue may not matter, comes down to league figuring out the best solution for Los Angeles then taking care of everything else (including STL), likes the Jaguars moving to London, sharing our long-standing love for the Raiders, league will not ignore STL after effort here, so many false starts on teams moving to LA over the past 20 years yet there’s so much happening from owner like Kroenke that it’s easy to believe something will happen this time, reaction from the listeners on Breer’s comments, someone just wants Les Snead to stay, not too familiar with Raiders roster, Willie tells Doug about Lou Murphy, changing Raiders name to ‘Hot Spurs’, wondering what Raiders will think when they first see STL, Mike Lee calls, thought he saw Ryan Franklin at Spring Training, Mike hearing about Colby Rasmus playing in Houston, Mike met a new girl named Annie, not going to tell Penny…, Mike keeps turning our attention to various topics, something about blue shoes, Doug advises on chap nipple situation, back to the blue shoes…, Rich from Phoenix calls, calling from the car, more about blue shoes, Rich right near the NFL Annual Meetings, the Rams are gone, Doug doesn’t like Rich kicking STL in the teeth, switch to golf, nothing to do in soccer, switch to hockey, Coyotes proud of losing by one goal…, cannot ‘we’ if he moved out of STL…, the big money that Rich makes selling cars, we lost Rich…, nice text about taking Rich sky diving & support the sponsors.
SEGMENT 5 – Email of the Day
