SEGMENT 1 – Show Open: Kind of ready, learning the phrase ‘tout sweet’, captain’s log, Charlie with us for the next four shows, reason Tim was heading out to Las Vegas, bachelorette party, hanging in the steam room, Charlie says The Cat thinks he’s 22-years-old, The Cat does not plan to pass away, when we’ll be ready to die, certain ages, certain loss of functions, fear of kids feeding us oatmeal one day, possible futures based on sci-fi movies, sports radio talk show people banding together to create a bunker, Willie would be a good guard for the bunker, skeptical that government will save sports radio talk show personnel, Paul from the wealthy part of West County calls, advice for Charlie that he rejects, kilbasa just a big sausage, becoming BBQ season more and more, Alpena going blue with no Tim present, Charlie suggests free-for-all, The Cat talking about Homers for Health event coming up, Chuck Woolery will be part of this event at BPV, struggles with the text line, Doug does not use the term ‘brunch’, Willie’s birthday, boys sing for the occassion, turning 29-years-old, suggestions for birthday dinner, rumors about John Calipari going back to the NBA, difference between college and NBA head coaching job, thinking there’s more fun with the college level, have to believe recruiting can suck, that Calipari with his sketchy past, coaches slipping out of trouble, not really a fan of that Jim Boeheim, times up in the Syracuse area, not too many coaches that have won more than one national championship, join us at Llywelyn’s Pub for Cardinals Opening Day, this show not invited…, Charlie feeling good this morning wearing his ‘thongs’, Charlie on Doug for his antiquated notions like ‘thongs’, the history of the thong (according to Wikipedia), came about in the 70s yet became more mainstream in the 90s, Willie can remember flip-flops being referred to as ‘thongs’, coon skin boy panties probably worn by the likes of Daniel Boone, surviving in the outdoors, eventually would be okay after some crying, The Cat suddenly becomes Davy Crockett since he’s seen those TV shows, killing an animal for food, Willie suggests Rambo-style, creating device like a canopy, some animals will do some damage to you, Charlie would survive longer because he’s younger plus quicker, Charlie would not hesistate to kill the others, figure that Doug would taste the best, “The Cat drum stick”, how to start a fire, wondering how to get M&Ms in the wild, that outdoor movie with Liam Neeson, slow generally not a good movie characteristic, debate over “Birdman” again, some like the Best Picture while others do not, the beat of the drum, we got a place for the best cheese steak sandwich in town, text line takes shot at Tim & the hassle Doug went through with the identity theft.
SEGMENT 2 – “Thong Song” back from 1999, The Cat talking more about big white un-athletic basketball players like Paul Mokeski, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch joins the show, Derrick wants to keep talking basketball players, learning some things under Dan ‘the Horse’ Issel when working in Denver, interesting candid story about Issel the missile…, one of the first big men to shoot from the outside, nice segue to Pete Kozma and the look in his eye, Kozma has had a very good Spring Training, former first-round pick the best baserunner on the ball club, getting to know Peter off the field, Charlie cannot believe this whole interview has been about the ‘Wizard of Koz’, the progress of Kozma’s game fielding balls plus improving at the plate, interesting that Kozma has very similar batting averages at Major League plus AAA levels, giving more rest to starting pitchers at the beginning, might forgo the fifth starter in the first month, could work to maximize starts against division foes for instance, debate over how the fifth starting pitcher decision has evolved over the past couple months, belief that Cardinals wanted Carlos Martinez to take the position and run, did not hear much about Jaime Garcia just until the beginning of 2015 just before Spring Training, almost forgot how good Garcia can be, almost time to come back to STL because Florida has been just too hot, happy birthday to Mike Caruso too, Doug’s son is roommates with Caruso’s son, buying a TV for their room, Will Ferrell said maybe all fraternities should be shut down after all the recent scandal, our days in the fraternity, didn’t participate in every activity, did some real dumb things during those days, Charlie did not get his shot at show whilst at Bradley, personal question about Chuck’s scholarship, wound up with journalism degree, into deep now…, back to the stupidity of frat stuff, ‘case race’ every Friday in Charlie’s day, The Cat had disgusting experience…, drinking like the dickens, recovery was much easier during those days, would’ve been a wonderful opportunity to get an education whilst at college, didn’t enjoy each class, support the sponsors, The Cat bulldozes…, support more sponsors, fantasy baseball draft tonight for the station, best fantasy baseball catchers, not Yadier Molina who’s the best in the game, Charlie thinks that Yadi likes him, generally not a difficult life for players, nobody likes doing postgame interviews & some players arrive at ballpark too early.
SEGMENT 3 – Supports those sponsors, our love for ketchup, switching to hockey, Jamie McClennan of NHL Network joins the show, final push for the playoffs with stacked Western Conference, most important thing going forward will be health, likes the depth of the Blues on the front plus back lines, sudden possible battle between Brian Elliott and Jake Allen to be starting goalie in the playoffs, system put in by Ken Hitchcock certainly can help, experience with Elliott or Allen obviously the biggest thing for the two, give pass to Blues last postseason when injury bug bit team hard, hopefully Martin Brodeur can be helpful to discuss his long storied experience, Kevin Shattenkirk coming back from long injury period that will seem like returning from summer break, speed/timing of the game takes time, scouting himself as average to below average, Doug wants him to have better opinion of himself, no shame in grinding out a career, above average interview…, support the sponsors, Doug admits to taking a steam, some family place in Colorado, apparently Doug lied, Charlie now pronouncing words like Tim, discussion of bat barrel size, David Hunn of St. Louis Post-Dispatch joins the show, NFL Annual Meetings no over after eventful few days, no more discussion of ‘if this will happen’ but becoming matter of who will make first move, NFL owners that spoke on the matter say they’d like to help markets (like STL) that make efforts, no more questioning whether Stan Kroenke wants to own a NFL team in Los Angeles, Kroenke wins either way (from our perspective), lot of clarity came from the meetings, Carson project right behind Inglewood doings, matter of two teams moving to LA, getting perspective from New York ownership with their situation at Metlife Stadium, not absolutely sure that the league will take care of STL, will come down to thirty-two individuals writing behind closed doors, frustration with the whole process, things we know plus aspects we don’t exactly know…, just awful that Stan Kroenke will not talk yet so much demanded from the fans, love for the Raiders, naming all the fan favorite guys, ready to welcome the Raiders with open arms & be eaiser if Rams would just stay.
SEGMENT 4 – Email of the Day
