SEGMENT 1 – Show Open: Lot happening this morning from the weekend, captain’s log, The Cat wants Doug’s hockeyism reaction to the Blues frustrating 2-1 loss to the Red Wings, reaction from David Backes on the loss, Ken Hitchcock said the game-winning goal should not have counted, The Note could not take advantage of the standings, non-reviewable play on broken stick goal by Justin Abdelkader, obvious frustrating reactions on social media following the game, should be easy to review that play, should be easy to adjust rule, Abdelkader should have maybe received penalty for playing with broken stick, big doings for Cardinals opening day with all day broadcast from Llywelyn’s in Soulard, seeing Dick Vitale on TV talking about a potential rigatoni special (Rick Pitino vs Tom Izzo), Doug’s familiarity with Italian culture, Willie explains the difference between Southern Italians and Northern Italians according to the movie “True Romance”, other NCAA Tourney trends including Kansas losing to Wichita State as well as Villanova being upset by North Carolina State, more tourney struggles for Bill Self plus Jay Wright, incredible to learn that Notre Dame coach Mike Brey lost his mother before their game over the weekend, Doug notices how Tim closes up his nasal when talking college basketball, that poor sad girl from the Villanova band playing the piccolo, people making fun of their poor girl playing the piccolo, coaches yelling at players, caller hung up on us…, situation with NFL Annual Meetings out in Phoenix, setup very fluid according to Willie, seeing new stadium schematics from Stan Kroenke’s Inglewood project, nice to see scenario from Albert Breer of NFL Network mentioning the Raiders coming to STL, big fear is the Raiders or Chargers attaching themselves to the Kroenke project, interesting that Rams have strongest Los Angeles project yet meet the least of the NFL relocation criterias, some details on the lavish Inglewood renderings, Peter King did interview with Roger Goodell in this morning’s edition of the MMQB, existing markets will have opportunity retain teams according to the NFL commissioner, Goodell certainly would not commit answer or opinion to NFL team playing football in LA by 2016, league cannot do too much about Kroenke’s cross-ownership, reading between the lines with Goodell’s comments, detection of him being exhausted with San Diego trying to figure out their stadium situation for fourteen years, still like to think cross-ownership will prevent Kroenke from going rogue, weekend for the Cardinals, nice first start from Adam Wainwright, seeing John Lackey getting one more pitch from Mike Matheny after mound visit, Lackey not throwing at full power during Spring Training, seeing some pop from Randal Grichuk, same caller hangs up on us again…, should be hearing more from the NFL Annual Meetings (owners meetings) as league executive Eric Grubman (point man in Los Angeles) will be addressing stadium plans, all about the money, St. Louis could certainly be the only loser, hearing from Alpena on “The Walking Dead”, very popular show these days, already a spin-off for “The Walking Dead”, Doug not a fan of “Better Call Saul”, Willie advises him to keep going, reality show about swingers on A&E, nice weekend for Plow Boy who visited Hank’s for Plow Girl’s bowling, did not want to bother Tim with a tweet, no cuckold discussion between the Plow’s, lot of involvement apparently with Jay Jr., Plow Girl wants to see what we do here at the station, bringing leftover chicken strips from Raising Cane’s, got soppins at the store before visiting the restaurant & The Cat feels he got the stink eye once inside the chicken joint.
SEGMENT 2 – Support those sponsors, Joe Strauss of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch joins the show, seems like they’ve had same conversation about Kroenke’s Inglewood project for a while now, not sure who can really stop Kroenke from moving the Rams, seeing the Inglewood presentation at owners meetings as incremental step of show n’ tell, not reading too much into STL Stadium task force not being invited to the NFL Annual Meetings, cross-ownership only seems like problem when Kroenke wants to move his team (but not while in STL), unfortunate frustration for the Blues on Sunday yet the more alarming peformance was the blowout against the Wild on Saturday, all eyes on Brian Elliott heading into the playoffs, this version of the Blues seem more geared for postseason run, connection between team performance plus goalie performance, tough road trip especially with back-to-back afternoon games over the weekend, fans waiting for April or May meltdown, NCAA Tourney getting to Sweet 16, lot of familiar coaches plus program names, odd to consider UCLA as ‘Cinderella’, considers the field to be outstanding, thought Kansas to be frauds most of the season, Big 12 Conference definitely exposed, like Arizona if picking team (besides Kentucky), just takes one game against Kentucky but that will be incredibly tough, Cardinals trying to decide fifth starting pitcher, would not consider Carlos Martinez to be declining asset, always been proponent of Cards exploring Cole Hamels deal, skeptical that Martinez can be consistent six-inning pitcher, Redbirds have to really start planning for the future, believes Cards are selling themselves short by not exploring transaction options, do no think that Hamels will finish the season with the Phillies, the Cardinals are built to win now, prospects certainly not like what the Cubs have going with their young players, have to start making moves to keep ahead of the pace & would not make top young players (Martinez, Grichuk or Stephen Piscotty) untouchable.
SEGMENT 3 – Elton John back in the 80s…, nice song because the Blues lost a tough one, that Hamburglar still going strong for the Senators, that Andrew Hammond off to hottest start since Pecky Lindbergh (or Patrick Lalime), other Elton John songs, eating food, nice comments about the refs on the radio broadcast yesterday, Kelly Chase of the St. Louis Blues joins the show, refs not controlling the game both ways, took so much out of the game, leads to missed call that ends the game, tiring for Chaser that the league is now having to go to Russia to find ‘standard’ officiating, clear that Justin Abdelkader’s stick was broken, human element still in play, taking the personality away from the refs, might as well have a couple tennis chairs at the blue lines, modern relationship between players and referees, only things preventing big change in officiating would be egos involved, lack of coverage for non-goal, even Abdelkader had look of shock when goal was counted, some corrections to be made on the back line, thinking that Kevin Shattenkirk might be back in a week, being gassed from road trip, not one matchup heading into the postseason that seems overly favorable, the Canucks not being that physical could be the best early matchup, coaches finding spots here and there to rest some players, Doug skeptical about the tennis chairs calling hockey games, support the sponsors, trying to remember who mentioned the Creve Couer Racquet Club, lost art of stenography, another example of the STL elite listening to this show, they do have a pincer free zone plus it’s a bit of a pony…, really getting into tennis, might create station cardigans, working on under-hand serve, playing the net, Doug decides, tennis gear, Doug disagrees with who does or does not listen to the show, the singing quartet from “Trading Places”, the elite of the elite listen to this show plus loud and clear in Huntleigh.
SEGMENT 4 – That wonderful Susanna Hoffs…, loving Italian coaches of college basketball, Rick Hummel of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch joins the show, his thoughts on the NCAA Tourney, liking Gonzaga, that Marco Gonzalez is all over the Zags, unique spot Cardinals find themselves in with Carlos Martinez (plus Jaime Garcia and Marco Gonzalez), going to be Garcia until he breaks down, not much weakness for the Cardinals at the moment to make trade, not over-thinking the situation, interesting the Cardinals just never brought up Garcia’s name over the longest time (especially during the off-season), could see Gonzalez out of the bullpen depending on someone like Kevin Siegrest, biggest surprise has been Pete Kozma hitting .400, Kozma lock to be their utlity guy, certainly the best option to backup Jhonny Peralta at shortstop, Randal Grichuk seems to be the last player off the bench, the Cardinals delta…, Doug doesn’t like the usage of ‘delta’, Tim explains ‘delta’, could easily see the Redbirds being 100-win season, listener texts from Huntleigh, Willie failing with football guest, only person tweeting this morning will be with Joe Roderick on Prime Time, the notes from Alpena, sounds like Alpena’s being poisoned by Willie, that Gene ‘the goon’ Rayburn has become an issue for Alpena, Jimmy ‘the bull’ calls with show idea called “The Bull Pen”…, wants to arrange MMF with Ellen and Willie…, JTB getting number from woman over the weekend, plenty of places in South City where married women stray, Willie confirms this about the neighborhood of Princeton Heights, now JTB wants to hang with Willie, hearing more about this Princeton Heights neighborhood, Steve in Wildwood calls, asks Doug to lift lifetime suspension on Deke Dotem, seeing on Twitter that Dotem has been reaching out to Joel Osteen, cannot tell Doug what to do…, trying to bribe with donuts, Steve will move John Vaughn out of the house which will lift suspension on Dotem, seen a little bit of Joel Osteen, might be more lucrative to spread the good news, nice phone call from Steve about Deke Dotem reaching out to Joel Osteen, Doug reiterates the Dotem suspension, guy who hates our show advertises with us, stealing neighbors mail & checking out ass in the gym locker room.
SEGMENT 5 – Email of the Day
