SEGMENT 1 – Show Open: devestating injury to Matt Holliday, dire need for another bat, injury makes it worse, trade speculation, Cardinals haven’t been shut out in back-to-back games by the Reds since the 1930’s, Lackey wasn’t as animated as would be expected after last night’s loss, Grichuck thought he should have caught the home run, Cardinals and Indians close to a deal, involving Brandon Moss, would be an improvement at first even though he’s not a high-average hitter, possibility of Cespedes, temporary filler, the Cat thinks it could be a future-impacting move also, Holliday injury forces Cardinals to make a move of more substance, Tim doesn’t think that Holliday would have been enough to make the Cardinals’ offense dangerous anyways, key is the judgement and position in the moment, anyone can look back and be right, Matt Carpenter’s lack of offense has also played down the Cardinals’ hitting, fan reaction to Holliday rooted in emotion not logic, Sea Monster’s photo-taking ability, Doug angry about the photo backdrop, Jordan the intern’s last day, Jeff calls in about Carpenter’s struggles, Greg calls in to talk to Doug, Greg suspended for a period of two days time, boys club song, Colin suspended for a poor question, mad at Mo, Mike calls in to see why Doug’s so mad, Mikes sounds mad himself, POT HIM DOWN!!!, Mike suspended, Steve in Wildwood calls in, turns off his Bluetooth, Doug yells at Steve, going to the latern festival at the Botanical Gardens, Gringo Jones, the jingle, lawn ornaments, taking your wife out on dates, timeline of Doug’s career, Steve tells Doug to calm down a bit, less sugar would be helpful, Doug’s time in Rochester, Timothy calls in & Cardinals’ trade apparenty complete.
SEGMENT 2 – Addition of Brandon Moss, traded for LHP Rob Kominsky, future pitching outlooks for the Redbirds, impact of the trade now and later, could there be another trade to come, Kaminsky was still a long way from the Majors, texters unhappy with the trade, feel like he a type of hitter the Cardinals already have, little to no improvement, ‘is the juice worth the squeeze’, former Indians pitcher and current analyst for the Cleveland Indians Jensen Lewis joins the program, thinks it’s a great deal for both sides, Indians get a prospect to help out in the future, the Birds get a bat to help the power offense right now, righting the ship just a little bit, Moss could be a force to add to the lineup, great arm from right-field, decent to above-average fielder, blue collar guy who just loves to play the game, good clubhouse guy as well, the move to St. Louis could help revive some numbers as well, never going to be a .300 hitter however, fans still seem angry over the trade, Doug loves the trade though, Doug won’t question Mozeliak, Derrick Goold from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch joins the program, thoughts on the trade, Goold likes the trade but not completely sold at this point in time, will be interesting to see how he fits into the lineup, trade would have likely happened even if Holliday hadn’t reinjured his quad last night, Kaminsky still an unproven Major League pitcher, leaves room for future speculation that might not be useful at the moment, could another trade happen, who do the Cardinals really have left to trade, who would they be willing to part with, have dipped into prospect pitching well four times in the last twelve months, Moss offers versatility because he can play both first base and the outfield, Holliday’s injury update could affect whether they make another trade or not, out there looking either way, Marco Gonzales and Jordan Walden health updates, Jim Callis from MLB.com joins the program, thinks that the Cardinals were ripped off by the Indians, Bradon Moss is simply a one-tool platoon-type player, not a good on-base percentage, only brings slightly improved power numbers, could have gotten a better player for Rob Kaminsky than Moss, Cardinals should have made a more informed decision and not traded Kaminsky for Moss, Cardinals didn’t need to make a deal to make the playoffs, Doug thinks it’s about quality of play in the playoffs, not simply to make them, below-average hitter against right-handers, Callis thinks he’s a platoon player & nothing more.
SEGMENT 3 – Mike Lee joins the program in studio, wearing his yellow jumpsuit, sporting his nunchucks, Chris Cotillo from SB Nation, broke the story last night, rating Brandon Moss, experienced defender even though he isn’t stellar, thoughts on other trade possibilities, where David Price might land before the deadline, Yasiel Puig also might be moved before the deadline, Carlos Gomez deal fall through due to health concerns, the Cat excited about the Cardinals’ trade despite some experts’ opinions, Betty Dangles suspended for a period of two days, Doug’s becoming ‘a cool’, Plowboy going to fancy restaurants, the interns, urge to slide down the fire pole, Doug is an action hero, Jordan the intern’s older brothers, Wall Street, random net worths & importance of financials.
