SEGMENT 1 – Show Open: Doug feels he won’t be much good to us…, Doug feels he got too much sleep (more than 5 hours) per night over the weekend, sleeping better with a nice phone app, captain’s log, we have our own version of the “The Bickersons”, the home opener this afternoon, folks camping in the downtown area hoping to get tickets, our party at Llywelyn’s for the big day, what gentlemen wear to sleep…, apparently Tim and Doug did not sleep last night…, we have no specific term for the home opener, that “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver” might be the funniest show on television, Tim stayed up way too late watching the tube in bed, phone app measures the movement on the mattress, the wine glass mattress test, suggesting turkey sanwich or chronic to get to sleep, Doug’s plan for journalism today, wondering if this morning’s rain will prevent the clydesdales from running around field, looking back at the Cardinals extra innings win on Sundee, Reds manager Bryan Price not happy with the slide of Jason Heyward that he found to be dirty, figure that will blow over sooner than later, that Aroldis Chapman pitching in non-save situation, Trevor Rosenthal doing it too, oddity of Redbirds using too many pitchers to get through games, remembering how Rosie was essentially burned out or spiraling down during the later months of the 2014 regular season, those Brewers playing decent ball coming to town, there will be pageantry, Tim undecided if he will go, might give the tickets to someone else, three cheers for Jason Isringhausen doing well last Friday with the afternoon show, Izzy doing some TV analysis, have to think the Cardinals all-time leader in saves did okay with making money while playing, maybe some streaming issues…, Willie looks like he is ready to play dodgeball, stream working just fine, people from England using the phrase “piss off”, Willie has been out of the country twice, Jordan Spieth with historic win at The Masters, looking at the exciting opportunity for the Blues, makeup for rest of the playoffs, big that the Kings are not in the postseason, Joe Strauss of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch joins the show, asking The Cat to let him answer the first question…, Blues put themselves in as good as place possible, feeling that club may be poised to make run, have to belief they have as much or more depth than any other team, looking back to the most recent controversy (information overload), one of the most important tells moving forward will be reaction from goaltenders (Jake Allen or Brian Elliott) if things do not go well, depth to create pressure whe offense is needed, impressed with first game back for Alexander Steen, liked what we saw from the Cardinals especially the starts from Michael Wacha plus Carlos Martinez, not surprising that the Reds manager had some interesting comments, seeing Randal Grichuk getting some time in centerfield, lot of negative view towards Jon Jay, the manager using a lot of relief pitchers early in the season, thought that Jordan Spieth victory was blowout performance at The Masters, do not think that Spieth is one trick pony, definitely see future of golf with also Rory McIlroy plus Dustin Johnson, very impressive how Spieth carries himself on and off the course, Spieth very close with 14-year-old sister that is special needs, seems like other professionals like the Masters champion, seeing Stanley Cup futures from Bovada, Wild right behind Blues in odds, pundits like the Jets upsetting the Ducks, Joe likes Finals matchup featuring Blues vs Canadiens.
SEGMENT 2 – Lot’s doing on Home Opener day 2015, Rick Hummel of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch joins the show, thinks that he’s covered about 38-40 of these games, did not use to be that big of a deal back in the day, didn’t have walk-up music either, baseball adding more pomp and circumstance over the years for various reasons, all about growing the market as well as popularity, time when the Cardinals were happy to have 15,000-20,000 in attendance whereas fans are camping out these days, almost two decades worth of seasons that have provided memorable baseball going back to the mid to late 90s, really have to like what we’ve seen from Trevor Rosenthal (outside a couple walks on Sunday) so far, ball club playing well for having game every other day, really excited with how Jason Heyward has been swinging the bat, anxious to see his reaction to fans giving him big welcome, bad start for the Brewers coming to town, expecting to see the Brewers do well after choking last season, early season trends including the Braves plus the Royals and Tigers, those Royals rolling to begin the season, that Miguel Cabrera really on fire, our pal Kyle Lohse off to very tough start, really learning things from the air index, catching The Cat up with this valuable information, comparing some ballparks to others, results from the DraftKings contests, Tim won $75, trying to take Doug out to dinner to talk about the show, pick-to-click baseball players for todee, air index at Busch Stadium might blow right into Matt Adams’ power area, hearing from Darren Pang that there appears to be about five teams in the Stanley Cup Playoffs that do not belong, definitely believe that Blues or Wild could both make deep runs, shrubbery in the air knocks pucks down, Jeff Ponder of InsideSTL.com joins the show, The Cat finding out there apparently is a problem in the room, Brian Haenchen of InsideSTL.com joins too, blaming his colleague for changing all of his alarm clocks, Doug learning about scheduled tweets, Pondsie up since 3a preparing this segment, now both becoming very complementary of each other, starting with Pondsie this time…, big to have home crowd behind the club to begin the postseason, two of the best teams in the league since the All-Star game, two of the best goaltenders playing right now in Jake Allen plus Devan Dubnyk going to be really tough if Blues do not escape first round, writers countering each other on Wild analysis, citing that other guest from earlier or reading Tim’s tweets, finally the truth from Haenchie, concern for Blues will consistency on offense, Wild have one of the top penalty kill squads in the league, looking at the rest of the playoff tourney, guys hitting on each other…, definitely could see some early uspets…, Doug liking burgers…, wiffle ball tourey back in action next month, have not heard from LAWA just yet, Izzy already hoping to get back at LAWA for last year, hearing some fun with audio & anchor having “Anchorman” moment getting fooled by the teleprompter.
SEGMENT 3 – New Cardinals song, “Caridnals Nation” by Jay Tighe, big boy pants time…, Cardinals President Bill DeWitt III joins the show, “Happy Opener!”, twentieth home opener for the DeWitt family, amazing run of success during their reign, growing success plus popularity of Home Opener over the years, certainly have to consider marketing of MLB, good factors such as success and tradition, new ballpark always helps, his crazy day for the Home Opener, new additions to Busch Stadium during the off-season, hope to iniate Wi-Fi all around the ballpark after the All-Star Break, funny commments about folks camping outside Busch, really do appreciate the support, been fortunate to have amazing run of filled ballpark as opposed to someone like the Yankees, most profitable franchise in baseball in the last year according to Forbes Magazine, Ballpark Village definitely exceeded expectations, they’d still like to do a better job marketing especially for off-season activities, metal detector process will certainly make entering the game much slower, point of great pride that DeWitt’s have been very involved with perhaps the most successful run in the long history of Cardinals baseball, pleading with Bill to take interest in buying a NFL franchise, can’t imagine our family doing anything besides baseball, doubtful the family would have interest with getting into the professional football business, liking what we’ve seen from the ball club thus far, Clydesdales are probable at this point if there’s no more rain, looking forward to the moment with announcing Jason Heyward in front of home fans for first time, bad secret that we’d like Heyward to be here for a while, looking back again at the amazing success since the DeWitt family took ownership, hearing from BD3 about the family’s NFL interest again, family name synonymous with success so natural to hope they can assist with NFL mess, remembering a time when the owner was known as ‘the DeWallet’, the new stadium plans over ten years ago, obviously see the success from 2004-06 but also the way that it was done, DeWitt’s are definitely fans of the game, thrilled with them delivering Ballpark Village, Plow Boy will use Tim’s tickets, Mrs. McKernan did not sleep either, Tim does not do manual labor, The Cat pays someone in the neighborhood to cut his grass, Doug’s sons occassionally help with the house work, ‘Janie the lesbian’ calls again from Augusta, fighting those allergies, her experience at The Masters, cannot yell at those players, lesbian scene at The Masters, Jordan Spieth balding, hair loss at 21…, not much social activity, no running at Augusta National, some complaint about the podcast, back to the interesting DeWitt family conversation, Doug might unblock “Dave Cline of Hedonism”, might exchange ballgame tickets for Plow Girl doing #FFF with Jennings…, sounds like an agreement, cuckold situation involving Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande, celebrities go through highs and lows yet still have a boat load of money & support the spsonsors!
