High School Athlete of the Week – Nerinx Hall’s Gracie Mannion

Gracie Mannion

Gracie Mannion, a senior midfielder on the Nerinx girls varsity soccer team, is this week’s recipient of the 590 The Fan High School Athlete of the Week award.

Mannion tallied a pair of goals, including the game winner in last week’s 3-2 win over O’Fallon.

“Gracie is one of our three senior captains and she’s a great soccer player. What makes her more special is how humble she is and how much of a team leader she is,” coach Brian Haddock said. “You wouldn’t know that humbleness when she’s on the field, she’s a bulldog and she’s the glue that holds this team together.”

Mannion attributes her success on the field to the close knit relationships she’s established with her teammates.

“I think Nerinx more than any other school, our teammates have that bonding aspect, especially when we’re out on the field,” Mannion said.

“She’s a crazy-hard worker and always gives 110 percent whether we’re in the state final or just in a practice, she’s a great person,” teammate Emily Crews said.
