St. Louis University men’s basketball broadcaster Earl Austin Jr. joined The Hollywood Casino Press Box on Monday to discuss a variety of Billikens topics, including Travis Ford’s debut as head coach and the his impressive recruiting efforts so far.
Listen to the interview and read some excerpts below:
On SLU’s loss to Ball St. in Ford’s debut:
“That was a tough night. It was 2-2, then Ball St. made three consecutive three-point shots to make it 11-2, and that was pretty much the ballgame. Ball St. is a good team. They won 21 games a year ago. It was a good lesson for our young guys.”
On why recruit Jevon Bess will be special for SLU:
“Athletic…can play inside, outside. Versatile, strong athletic.”
On recruit Jordan Goodwin:
“The epitome of a competitive, tough, physical kid who’s really improved his skill level. Folks are going go love him. Kind of a Draymond Green type of competitiveness. I think the kid’s a winner, a great player.”
