Bernie Federko, iconic Blues forward and FOX Sports Midwest hockey analyst, joined The Midday Grind to give his opinion on Game 1 of the Blues-Wild series that ended with Joel Edmundson scoring the game-winning goal in overtime.

“It was a really exciting finish obviously. I don’t know if the Blues deserved to win the game by any means but they did. They have to play better in the next game, it’s really simply put. They have to thank Jake Allen.”

On Joel Edmundson being the unlikely hero and scoring the game-winning goal:

“You need to have different heroes (in the playoffs). His reaction was kind of strange, he didn’t even react when he scored it. You don’t get a lot of opportunities to ever score an overtime goal. He was in the right place at the right time and he finished it off. You need the bounces, you need the breaks. The Blues didn’t play well…and they came away with the win.”
