Come one...come all...to tonight's insideSTL.com Poker Tournament at F15teen. We're hoping to have a great night of poker along with raising a nice amount of money for the Prevent Cancer Foundation. Even if you're not planning on playing, come on by for the festivities.
Let's get some nuts and bolts stuff out there...since, by now, many of you are well aware of the details...but we've got some new stuff:
-Registration begins at 5 p.m. I don't expect to fill all 200 spots, but if we do, as soon as we register our 200th player, registration ends. If we don't fill all 200 spots, we'll take registration through two levels of blinds (approximately 6:40 p.m.). We'll begin play at around 6 p.m.
-I can't guarantee you that you'll get a spot if you show up at 5:45 or 6, so if you really want to play, I'd suggest getting there as close to 5 as possible...and enjoying the food and drink specials F15teen is offering (see below).
-The buy-in is free. However, we would appreciated a $100 donation, with much of the proceeds going to The Prevent Cancer Foundation. Registration will take place on the 2nd floor, right outside of the F15teen event center. World Series of Poker Main Event chip leader Dennis Phillips will be sitting at the registration table signing autographs and talking with players as they register.

-We are staffing the event with dealers, many of whom work at area casinos. As a way to fund the dealers, we'll be asking participants to voluntarily pay $5 at the registration table. Our goal is to have 20 dealers present, in case we have 200 players. If you or someone you know would be interested in making a little extra money to deal tonight's tournament and fill out a few vacancies we have left, email me at tmckernan@insidestl.com.
-If you donate $100, F15teen will give you the opportunity to enjoy an all-you-can-eat buffet and all-you-can-drink beer and well drinks for a total of just $25. That will take you from 5 p.m. all the way to midnight...or however late you are still playing. If you do not choose to donate $100, you can get the all-you-can-eat and drink deal for $50. Of course, you don't have to pay anything...and you can just order off the menu or from the bar all evening
-Players will start with 5,000 chips.
-As things stand right now, we're planning on having blinds go up every 20 minutes. If we get 200 people, we may alter that to 15 minutes. It's important to me, however, to have the ability for players to actually play poker as opposed to a shovefest.
-There is no dress code.
-F15teen will begin valet parking service at 5 p.m.
-As much as I'd love to have side cash games going after players get knocked out, we cannot allow that. So, there will be no ring/cash games.

-Prizes depend on a. how many people we have show up, and b. the percentage of those people who donate $100. We do, however, have some great sporting event tickets to include as part of our prize packages. I'll be able to announce the prize packages at the first break. We do hope to raise a minimum of $5,000 for Prevent Cancer. However, we'll have no idea as to how much we'll have for the prize pool until after registration is closed.
-If this event is a success, it could be the start of doing this on a regular basis as some kind of free poker league with the prize for the league being a paid buy-in to the World Series of Poker Main Event. But, I don't want to get ahead of ourselves. Tonight, I want this to go off in a first-class manner, and insideSTL.com has spared no expense (quality of chips, venue, dealers, etc.) to try and make sure this will be a good event for people who enjoy quality poker all while raising money for a great cause. However, we anticipate growing pains and some bumps in the road as this is our first event. Nonetheless, it's all in the name of a good time and a charity, and we look forward to seeing you tonight at F15teen at 19th and Locust downtown.
