All Kinds of Crap: Cougars/Girls Next Door Voting & Party, Poker Tournament Update, And Some Sports Stuff
By Tim McKernan Wednesday, July 30, 2008

The July 2008 Girl Next Door & Cougar Next Door

The evening is nigh. I believe that means near.

Friday night at Mike Shannon's following the Cardinals-Phillies game, we'll be hosting our first ever insideSTL.com Girl Next Door AND Cougar Next Door Party. So, not only will we have the four July GND's (who, for the record in case you haven't checked it out, are absurdly beautiful and part of what has to be the best month ever...which is really saying something), we'll also have our very first set of Cougars competing for their $500 cash prize.

8 lasses. All campaigning and begging for your vote.

As Doug Vaughn would say, "Sweet action."

This will be great entertainment, and a nice little way to start off your Friday night festivities. You can vote at Shannon's...but you can also vote online between now and 5 p.m. Friday.

The only thing that will be more prevalent than class Friday night at Shannon's will be the tension.

The insideSTL.com Poker Tournament A Week From Today At F15teen

More good news for those of you planning on attending the insideSTL.com Poker Tournament next Wednesday at F15teen: with some re-evaluation of all the space at F15teen, we're now able to easily fit 200 people...not just 100.

What does that mean? It means we should be able to accommodate anyone and everyone who wants to come and play next week. It also means that we should be able to have a larger prize pool. And, it means we should be able to donate even more to the Prevent Cancer Foundation, which will receive a healthy portion of the proceeds from Wednesday's insideSTL.com Poker Tournament.

Here are the details again for those of you that didn't read the announcement on Friday:

-Registration begins at 5 p.m. at F15teen. We cannot pre-register anyone. We'll take registration up until 5:55 p.m. or we fill up the 200 spots. Whatever comes first.

-We begin play at 6 p.m.

-There is no buy-in. You can come and play completely for free. However, we would appreciate a $100 donation. Mark Winfield, co-owner of F15teen with Jim Edmonds, has said that he will reward those who donate by giving them happy hour prices on drinks for the duration of the tournament and a $10 all-you-can-eat buffet.

-World Series of Poker Main Event chip leader and St. Louisan Dennis Phillips will be in attendance and playing. He's offered to let us put a bounty on his head for whoever knocks him out of the tournament. The amount of that bounty, just like the prize pool, will not be determined until registration is complete and we know how much money is in the pot. Ideally, we'll raise close to $20,000 and be able to give a really nice-sized donation to Prevent Cancer and have a really nice-sized prize structure for those finishing near the top of the tournament.

-F15teen will be providing waitresses for food and drink service throughout the evening, so it should be a good time, and in the process, we'll raise some money for a great cause.

The Executioner Has Invaded The Message Board

I kid when I call him "The Executioner," but the poker pro who ended my dreams 3 weeks ago at the WSOP has now joined the insideSTL.com message boards and is posting in the STL Poker Room section. Man...I thought I had a pretty advanced knowledge of the game. But, Jeff Bryan, who won $330,000 in 2007 at the WSOP and $25,000 this year is in a different world. He's giving some great advice on playing the game and telling some cool poker stories as well, so if you haven't checked out the STL Poker Room, I'd recommend doing so. There's some great local poker talk going on. Click here to check it out.

Speaking of New Sections On The Message Board...

We've launched Maggie's Back Door...where you can interact directly with STL Ladies superstar Maggie Barlow and ask whatever creepy questions you'd like in a public forum, and we've also launched H-Ball, where insideSTL.com Rams' reporter Howard Balzer posts updates from Rams' Camp and answers questions daily.

You already know Maggie brings it every Wednesday. And, if you want to say you don't know, that's cool...but it's the most read column on the site...so you fucking perverts are loving her stuff...and you freaky broads are as well. As Tim Sr. would say, "Don't shit the shitter."

But, I can't begin to tell you how great Howard Balzer has been in his first two weeks on the Rams' beat. Man, he's all over it. This son-of-a-bitch is submitting 3 columns a day sometimes. That Rams' section is getting some great traffic, and it's understandable as to why it is. Howard is in the know, and he's posting updates on the Rams constantly.

If you're a Rams' fan and you haven't checked it out, click here. It's really a strong, must read column. Pass the link along to other Rams' fans, as I feel confident in saying we're going to have one of the premier online locations for Rams' news this upcoming season courtesy of the hard work and dedication of Howard Balzer...which leads me to...

The STL Missouri Tigers And Fighting Illini Pages

They both debut on Monday. Gabe De Armond will be bringing it from Columbia, and Brad Sturdy will be all over it in Champaign. Both of these guys regularly cover their respective teams, so if Howard's work is any indication of how much information and opinion your going to get from insideSTL.com on the Rams, make sure to monitor the STL Missouri Tigers and STL Fighting Illini pages starting Monday...as we're just one month away from The Game at the Edward Jones Dome...which leads me to (this is like an episode of Mr. Show...obscure reference)...

The insideSTL.com Missouri-Illinois Arch Rivalry Ticket Giveaway

insideSTL.com is giving away 4 sets of tickets to the Missouri-Illinois game. These will be great seats to a sold out game. All you have to do to be in the mix for winning these tickets is text insideSTL to 68247...and you're registered.

It's that simple.

On Friday August 15th at our insideSTL.com Happy Hour at Hair of The Dog, we'll select four random phone numbers, be accused of rigging the competition, and then announce the 4 names of the people who have won the 4 sets of tickets. You must be in attendance at Hair of The Dog on August 15th to qualify. But, that's not too bad of a deal: hang out, have cheap booze with a lovely crowd of lasses and gentlemen, and then have a good chance of winning tickets to the biggest college football game ever played in St. Louis. Not too bad at all. The fun and games will go from 5 to 8 p.m. at Hair of The Dog. Just remember to text insideSTL to 68247 to register.
