Lots doing today and tonight in downtown St. Louis with the Cardinals playing a day game against the Astros...and then later...The insideSTL.com Fourth Anniversary Party Featuring a live broadcast of The ITD Morning After at The Pepper Lounge (2005 Locust Street). So, in order to set the stage for the evening and perhaps answer some questions, here's an FAQ of sorts for the festivities tonight:
Pre-Party Happy Hour At El Borracho Right Next Door To The Pepper Lounge Starting At 4:30
Knowing that starting the live-to-tape broadcast at around 7 p.m. and having told people who plan to attend to get there around 6:30 because of the small size of the room we're doing
the show in...
...I talked to the guys at The Pepper Lounge about setting up a Happy Hour for those of you going to the game or who work downtown and want to stick around between work and 6:30.
So, at the adjoining restaurant/bar, El Borracho, they are offering up the following specials from 4:30 to 8:
-$1.00 panchos (smaller tacos)
-$2.00 pints
-$3.00 sangria
-$4.00 margaritas
The Dress Code
The Pepper Lounge is essentially tossing the dress code out the window for tonight's festivities. That doesn't mean anything goes...but casual attire is welcome. So, if you're going to the game during the day...or you just want to wear jeans, a t-shirt, and a cap...feel free.
The Live-To-Tape Broadcast of The ITD Morning After
We have to start the show as close to 7 p.m. as possible...because Doug Vaughn has to be back over to KMOV to anchor the 10 p.m. sportscast.
Therefore, we'll open the doors at The Pepper Lounge at 6:30. For those of you who haven't been there before, the place isn't incredibly big. My guess is the front room holds about
150 people, so if you want to make sure you get to see and hear the show, I can't recommend enough to get there as close to 6:30 as possible. That's why we set up the extended happy hour next door at El Borracho.
It'll be $10 at the door after 7...but $5 before 7. So, there's another incentive to get in early.
As you arrive, so will Timberfake, Mike Lee, and Jackie. Our Intern Kevin along with our videographer Clark Bowen are driving all over town to pick up Timberfake (who is bringing the famed Mister Meriwether), Mike Lee, and Jackie. The video of that ride to the event will be up online on insideSTL.com Monday. We'll have a highlight video up on the site tomorrow.
Another incentive to get to The Pepper Lounge early is after an initial segment of bullshitting on The ITD Morning After, adult film superstar Jesse Jane will join us live as of our first guest. The host of Playboy TV's Naughty Amateur Home Videos and the
Digital Playground contract girl is scheduled to arrive at The Pepper Lounge at 7 p.m. She'll be there for about an hour before heading over to P.T.'s Sports Cabaret in Sauget to feature dance. She'll be there tonight, tomorrow, and Saturday.
Once we have Jesse on the show, the fun and games commence with interviews with scheduled St. Louis sports figures. The people wanted to have their identities kept secret in case they couldn't show up at the last minute---and I don't mind considering The Great Summerfest Judge Debacle of 2009---but based on the number of well known people scheduled to attend, I think you'll be happy with the guests.
Around 8 p.m., we'll have the Producer Joe vs. Charlie Marlow IQ Showdown. The two geniuses have wagered $100 that they'll be able to defeat the other one. I honestly don't know who's going to win this thing. Both are incredibly confident. But, I think both are incredibly moronic. There can only be one winner, but there will be two losers: whoever scores the fewest points...and all of us for watching.
Following The IQ Showdown, we'll have another segment with some well-known St. Louis sports figures. That will take place around 8:20.
At 8:40, we'll have our Girls Next Door Gameshow, in which a number of our past Girls Next Door will be asked a variety of pop culture, political, and sports questions. The winner of the Girls Next Door Gameshow will take home a $250 prize. As of right
now, we have 8 GND's scheduled to participate, so we expect about 4.
And, finally, at 9 p.m., it's the moment you selected as the most anticipated of The insideSTL.com Fourth Anniversary Party: The Idiots' Roundtable.
Producer Joe will host the roundtable, featuring The ITD Morning After regulars Rudy, Timberfake, Mike Lee...and making her first public appearance...Jackie.
Following The Idiots' Roundtable, we'll begin (or continue) to booze at The Pepper Lounge. Many of our GND's will be in attendance along with many of the people who have made it possible for this company to get to our 4th Anniversary.
I say this in sincerity: the so-called success of this company is because of a hell of a lot of people who have invested time and energy in this concept that started because of boredom...and now helps people get through their days of boredom. Come out and enjoy some libations with us as we celebrate somehow still being in business.
