Just received this in my email at 11:03 this morning:
ST
. LOUIS, MO. – Rams Head Coach Scott Linehan announced today that Trent Green will start at quarterback Sunday, when the Rams kickoff at 3:05 p.m. against the Buffalo Bills.
Linehan will reserve comment today about the decision. He will be available at 2 p.m. tomorrow at his weekly media day briefing at the Russell Training Center.

Personally, I fear for Trent Green's safety. And, I'm only half-kidding. But, I understand why Scott Linehan is doing it. This could very well be---and actually, I would wager it will be---the last game he coaches in the NFL.
He has to be aware of that, and so if it looks like you're about to get shot down, as the great Jon Bon Jovi said, you go out in a blaze of glory.
Here's the thing about this move, though: it's probably not going to be able to save Linehan's job (although, once again, I don't blame him for making the move). But, it does set the stage for, in my opinion, the beginning of the end of Marc Bulger in St. Louis.
Watching him play lately, it looks like he's just flat-out shell-shocked, and I'm not sure Brett Favre or Tom Brady could make it happen behind the offensive line Bulger had for 2007 and the first two games of 2008. But, on Sunday in Seattle, he had some time...and he still looked uncomfortable in the pocket and missed open receivers.
My guess is that Bulger will be back at QB again this season, but this is an indication of the beginning of the end. The Rams already had questions galore at o-line, wide receiver, and all of the defense...yet inevitably when April 2009 rolls around, they're going to have to select a quarterback in the first three rounds.
Linehan's decision is the right one short-term, but this will have long-term ramifications for the Rams' quarterbacking situation.
What do you think about Linehan's decision to bench Marc Bulger and start Trent Green? Post your comments below.
