Who else but InsideSTL.com is here to bring you the latest on the good, the bad, and the ugly when it comes to the music scene? So without further ado, here we go…
The Good:
During this Tuesday’s Warped Tour show at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater, Lead singer of rock band, The Gym Class Heroes, Travis McCoy pulled an Axl Rose and provided a beatdown on a fan at the show. The ‘victim’ allegedly insulted the lead singer with a racial slur and then was called up to the stage to receive a beat down courtesy of the lead singer’s microphone (much to the delight of fans in attendance). According to witnesses at the show and the youtube video posted yesterday following the beat down, McCoy was quoted as saying, "Listen, that's not even characteristic of me. I'm sorry you guys had to see that shit. But if someone calls you something that offensive and that fucking disgusting, you have to bash their head with a microphone, I'm sorry."
The Bad:
Boy George, the iconic 80’s musician who brought us classics, such as, ‘Do You Really Want To Hurt Me’, ‘Time’, ‘Miss Me Blind’ and ‘The Crying Game’ was recently denied a visa to enter the US, putting a planned tour in jeopardy. The tour, which was scheduled to begin in Vegas and take him through Dallas, is now on hold pending further notice.
According to various internet sources the visa denial is a result of Boy George’s arrest last year for allegations that he imprisoned and assaulted a male escort in Norway. Don’t you hate it when that happens?
The Ugly:
British Singer Amy Winehouse has found herself trouble again. The singer who was making her first appearance in seven months was observed throwing a punch at a fan at Saturday’s Glastonbury Festival in England. Ironically enough the mini-beatdown occurred during the song titled ‘Rehab’. In support of Winehouse, festival organizers claim she was only reacting to someone who grabbed her breasts (in this case a beating perhaps well deserved on general principle).
The unfortunate incident comes less than a month after Winehouse was hospitalized after collapsing at her London home and her father’s recent concern over the singer’s emphysema and reported drug use.
And finally this week, multiple sources have reported A-rod has been spending time with Madonna on numerous occasions, including hanging out at her Upper West Side apartment. I don’t have much else to say about this other than it doesn’t get much uglier than that!
